Located about 15 minutes away from the University of Michigan, the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest is a premier destination for business travelers, conferences, weddings, and special events. Situated along the shores of Ford Lake and adjacent to Eagle Crest Golf Club, the hotel welcomes thousands of guests each year while offering nearly 36,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
For a hospitality property of this size and scale, restroom performance is critical to both guest satisfaction and day-to-day operations. That's why, during a renovation throughout the property, the hotel installed toilets equipped with Flushmate® 504 Series pressure-assist systems. Today, approximately 246 Flushmate-equipped toilets are in service across the hotel.
According to Robert Sanders, Assistant Director of Engineering at the hotel, the Flushmate systems have consistently delivered reliable performance while reducing many of the issues commonly associated with conventional gravity-fed toilets.
“The benefits are two-fold," Sanders said. "Our number of calls for toilets needing plunged went down because there is much more force behind each flush, which helps clear the bowl. Water costs also went down, and we're no longer receiving complaints about toilets running."
Those results are especially important in the hospitality industry, where restroom performance directly impacts both guest experiences and facility maintenance workloads. By helping reduce clog-related service calls and water waste, Flushmate pressure-assist technology has allowed the engineering team to spend less time responding to restroom issues and more time focusing on other operational priorities.
Over the years, Sanders has also come to appreciate the ease of servicing Flushmate units when issues do arise.
"We had the Flushmate systems when I worked at the local hospital more than 12 years ago, and we also have them here at the hotel," Sanders said. "I've always felt like they are very user-friendly for our service technicians. Any issues I've had have always been less than five-minute fixes."
In addition to product reliability, Sanders cited Flushmate's customer support team as a key reason for his continued confidence in the technology.
"When there have been issues, customer service has been phenomenal in assisting and taking care of the problem," he said. "I could only dream of having as good of service from my other vendors.”
After more than a decade of daily use in a high-traffic hospitality environment, the Flushmate pressure-assisted systems continue to provide the reliable performance, water savings, and ease of maintenance the hotel requires to support its guests and operations.
